75th year group of Wesley Girls donates to orphans

Source: GNA - The 75th Year Group of the Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast on Sunday presented food items worth GH¢ 8,000 to the Orphans of Village of Hope at Gomoa Fetteh, in the Central Region.

The items include three gallons of 25 litters cooking oil, two bags of sugar, five boxes of tin fish, five boxes of antiseptic liquid, five boxes key soap, five boxes tasty tom Tomatoes, 10 bags of rice , 350 pieces of toilet roll, one leader box of soap and six max bags of maize.
Mrs Harriet Wireko Brobbey, President of the Group who presented the items on behalf of the members said the donation formed part of their 40th Anniversary Celebration programme of the group after completing school.

She said the group had also planned big donation to their alma mata in February 2016 to coincide with the school’s speech and prize Given Day celebration.

The President said the group had decided to sponsor two female orphans at the Village of Hope to senior high school as part of their contributions to ease some of the financial burden of the Home.

Mrs Wireko Brobbey advised the inmates not to see themselves as unfortunate in the society but strive hard to achieve their aims and objectives.

She cautioned them to desist from behaviour that could make them wayward, adding that humility, respect and God –fearing are the antidote for the achievement of success.

Mr Kweku Sarkofie, in-charge of the Orphanage said the Home has 257 inmates, saying that funding is the only major challenging confronting the Village.

Mr Sarkodie said managers of the Home are paying the fees of 19 students in tertiary institutions and 46 in senior high schools across the country.

He thanked the group for their kind gesture and appealed to the other corporate bodies and individuals to contribute at least GH¢ 100 per month to support the inmates up keep.
