Source: GNA - Item worth hundreds of Ghana Cedis are feared to have been lost when fire gutted parts of the building housing the Adansi South Health Directorate during the early dawn of last Monday.
Mr Courage Anku, Acting District Director of Health told the Ghana News Agency that there were no casualties and that preliminary reports of inventory taken by the Ghana national Fire Service (GNFS) officials say the damage caused by the outbreak was not extensive.

This he attributed to the timely response of the GNFS fire-fighters though the cause of the fire and the cost of quantifiable items lost to the fire was not immediately known.

Mr Anku has however assured the public that incident would not affect health delivery at the New Edubiase Government Hospital.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity explained that the fire was noticed around 2am Monday, when thick columns of smoke from the blaze enveloped the whole building affecting visibility in the whole area.

The GNFS was immediately alerted and the fire-fighter responded swiftly to put out the fire.

Madam Thelma Kyei Baffour, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the District Health Directorate debunked media reports that indicated the facility was totally razed down by the fire.

She also denied that that it took the fire officers close to one hour to control and prevent the fire outbreak from spreading to other adjoining units.
